Welcome to the Hoya Gateway Blog.
While Hoya Gateway is new to many of you, this program has been in development for more than two years. This blog is another step toward our primary goal of providing every student with an opportunity for a meaningful career-related discussion with an alumnus before graduation.
One purpose of this blog will be to communicate important information about the Hoya Gateway program to all participants– both alumni (mentors) and student (mentees). Another purpose is to serve as an online place where conversations happen– conversations about your experiences, suggestions to improve the program and ideas to expand the program to reach more people.
My hope is that many of the conversations that are started online will continue in person. These high-quality, in person conversations that lead to lifelong professional connections are a critical to the success of Hoya Gateway and both students and alumni have a role to play. Check out the video on the Hoya Gateway website to hear from student and alumni about their Hoya Gateway experiences.
There is a famous quote by Warren Buffet that I just recently heard. . . he says, “Someone is sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago.” Each piece of the Hoya Gateway program we build now is like planting another seed that will provide shade for future generations of Georgetown students.
I look forward to continuing this conversation with all of you.
